ZeroGov is an independent, privately run website. We are not the U.S. government, not SAM.gov, and not affiliated with any federal agency. We're saying that as plainly as possible because the space we cover is full of sites that blur that line on purpose.

Why "zero"

SAM.gov registration costs zero dollars. It's free, and required by law to be free. A lot of the search results for "SAM.gov registration" are paid services charging several hundred dollars to walk you through a free government form. We think that's worth calling out plainly, which is most of what this site is for.

How we write

Content here is checked against publicly available SAM.gov, FSD.gov, and FAR guidance. Federal procurement rules are genuinely complex and change in phases; where a specific detail might be outdated by the time you read it, we say so and point you to the official source.

How the site pays for itself

Some pages link to business-formation services, proposal software, or courses relevant to government contracting, and the site may earn a commission if you sign up through one of those links. We never charge for anything that's free through the government directly, and we say so explicitly wherever that applies.

What this site doesn't cover

This is about federal civilian contracting through SAM.gov, not state or local government procurement, which runs on entirely different systems and rules. It also doesn't get into classified work, ITAR-controlled contracts, or the specialized DoD acquisition tracks that go well beyond what a small business's first registration needs. Those are real, separate worlds with their own specialists; this site is the on-ramp, not the whole road.
